Mosque Uden
Cultural
Location: Uden, the Netherlands
Area: 1586 m2
Completion date: work in progress
The aim of this project was to create a new proposal for the Uden’s mosque. The main purpose of a mosque is to provide a place for Muslims to pray together. However, it also contributes largely to the development and reinforcement of the whole Islamic community by holding social activities such as food drives, clothing donations or fundraising campaigns for the poor and needy. For this reason we decided to create spaces for a wide variety of uses like offices, galleries, meeting and conference rooms.
Another important goal was to form an iconic but contemporary facade. To achieve that we focused on two aspects: a blue accent that is a significant Turkish element which represents tradition and white, gold colours illuminating the building in its surrounding and bringing a modern feature to the mosque.
