The Sugar Quay and the Three Quay sites provide a unique opportunity in the development of the north bank by the Thames River. An initial approach to the project began by defining its maximum buildable envelope. It is achieved by the limitations of the strategic viewing corridors and the desire for a descending profile towards the river and the Tower of London. This model is then cut and opens up to the Custom House. It also gives a logical strategy for a separate built elements that satisfy the brief and makes it a two residential and one deep office building solution.
